The Ankara Effect

A few Sunday's back, I woke up inspired. The sun shone through the crack of my window and mixed prints swirled in my head. I had just gone to a Della event at Space1520 in Hollywood, and the items on display really reminded me to appreciate the beauty of African fabrics & the earthy brown skin that customarily dons it.
I paired a turban (made from leftover cloth), a sort of men's style African top I thrifted in Woodland, a tailored ankara print skirt, and sandals for a day out with my Dad.

For church (earlier in the day) I wore a more subtle white top. I'm looking forward to getting a few more ankara pieces for my wardrobe this summer. What are some trends/styles you'd like to see in ankara print?

  1. Ndidi, such a lovely blog and this post was nice. I like how you've mixed different prints into one outfit. Never really thought about that option but it works well. If fact, got a lot of different prints from my trip to Nigeria a week ago. So looking forwards to wearing them :)
